Let’s face it: even if you work a full-time job, you may find yourself coming up short on cash at the end of the month. The first step to becoming financially solvent, of course, is to find ways to cut down on your expenses, but once you’ve exhausted that avenue, you might need to find a secondary source of income. There are plenty of ways to do just that on the internet. Here are just a few ideas to help get you started:
1) Sell back your stuff.
Probably the quickest way to earn some extra cash is to sell back the stuff you already own, but no longer want or need. If you want a guaranteed profit, look for online recycling sites like musicMagpie.com or Abe Books that will pay you a flat fee for your old electronics and books. Many of these sites will provide free postage in exchange for your old goods. On the other hand, if you want to set your own price or have others bid on your items, create a seller’s account on eBay or Amazon or post a listing on Craigslist.
2) Perform a small microgig.
At the end of a long work day, you may not feel like coming home and tackling a freelance project, but you probably have fifteen minutes or a half an hour you could kill performing a small microgig. Sites like Microworkers, Fiverr, Just a Five, TenBux, Jobs for Ten, and Fittytown allow you to earn small amounts of money—ranging from $3 to $50—for a specialized skill set like writing reviews or setting up fan pages on Facebook.
3) Let your opinion be heard.
Another easy money-making strategy that won’t demand too much of your free time is to get paid to take online surveys. Market researchers are always looking for an unbiased consumer opinion about their products, making your opinion very important and valuable to them. There are dozens of options to choose from, but some of the best are Survey Spot, Opinion Outpost, and FreePaidSurveys.net.
4) Monetize your blog.
If you already have a blog with a modest following, it may be time to cash in. If you don’t have one, it may be time to get writing. There are several ways to start making money from your blog, from pay-per-click advertising through Google AdWords, Google AdSense, and Chitika to doing sponsored posts and affiliate marketing.
5) Start a side business.
If you’ve got a passion for crafts, art, design, or photography, you may have just the skills you need to start a side business on the internet. Many websites allow users to sell their own creations to the public, whether it be original artwork and jewelry on Etsy or graphic tees, mugs, and posters on CafePress. You could always start your own website where you could sell your creations as well.
