While I find it fascinating to read about other people’s net worth, I’ve never bothered to figure out my own. With the start of the new year, I thought it would be fun to do. This is me, upping my personal transparency bar.
Assets
- House: $255,400. Estimated market value according to the county tax assessor.
- Cars: $23,445. Kelly Blue Book suggested retail value for both of our vehicles and my motorcycle.
- Checking accounts: $2,974. I have accounts spread across three banks.
- Savings accounts: $4,779. I have savings accounts spread across a few banks. This does not include my kids’ accounts, even though they are in my name. This includes every savings goal I have at the moment.
- CDs: $1,095. I consider this a part of my emergency fund.
- IRAs: $11,172 (Do you know your IRA contribution limits? Do you have a Roth IRA?)
- Total: $298,865
Liabilities
- Mortgage: $33,978
- Car loan: $1,226. This will be paid off this month.
- Credit card: $23,524. This is the next target of my debt snowball.
- Total: $58,728
Overall: $240,137
Update: I wrote and scheduled this before I paid off my car loan.

Woot for great home equity!!! Our house is only worth $130,000 and we still have $68,000 to pay off…
Thanks for the update! As you’ve probably noticed, I post ours the first business day of every month (it’s the post 1 minute before my blog stats and income update since it’s less popular, lol).
We got our house shortly before the market went nuts and watched the value triple of the last 12 years. I haven’t decided how often I’m going to post my net worth. It’s taken almost 14 months to do it once. That’s a lot of transparency.
Feels a little like flashing, right? I like it, but I don’t know what that says about me, lol.
Nah, I’m comfortable with flashing.
My goal is near-total transparency, but that will be a gradual process.
Your mortgage balance looks good!
Thanks. That was one thing we had help on when we were getting started. That left us with a 15 year fixed mortgage with a reasonable payment, instead of working 2 weeks just to keep the roof over our heads.
